5 Best Places to Visit in Manali

Manali got its name from the Hindu lawgiver “Manu”. The original name was Manu-Alaya means abode of Manu (home of Manu). Manu, in the hindu mythology is the first man, who is the author of the Sanskrit laws code of Hinduism called as Manu Samiriti.

Manali is a town in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh State of India.  It is situated in the end of Northern part of Kullu valley. People of different places like to visit Manali mostly in Summer Season because of its cool weather.

This time is best to visit here with friends and family and perfect for all kinds of outdoor activities which I mentioned earlier, the temperature between these months lies between 10 to 25 degrees and cool breeze blows all over seasons.

Hidimba Devi Temple



The Hidimba Devi Temple also known as Dhungari Temple locally in Manali is around 500 years old and 24 meters tall and was constructed by the Maharaja Bahadur Singh (1553). The temple builds around the place where Devi Hidimba Meditates and used to lives here with her brother Hidimb. 

Hidimba Devi is actually the wife of Bhima, the brother of Arjuna. There were a popular story about Bhim and Hidamba that Hidimb, the brother of Hidamba attacks Bhim and his family in the search of food. 

When Hidbamba came there in the mid of fight, she lost her heart to Bhim and helped Bhim to overpower her brother in the fight and with the permission of Bhim’s mother, Mata Kunti, who realized that Hidamba is in true love with his son and also she saves their lives, he marries her with a deal that after they having a child, Bhim came back to his family.

 

Manu Temple



The Manu Temple in Manali is the only dedicated temple to Manu on this Planet.

 It is located in the old Manali region by approaching it by the road that passes from Manali Community Centre. 

The distance of Manu temple is 3 km from the Manali main market. This temple was built with wood and stones and once you step on the porch, you will realize the sense of spirituality and religious sanctity. 

In 1992, this temple is reconstructed with marble flooring and vaulted ceilings. The Beas River Valley increases the beauty of this Temple. Pagoda Style Architecture is seen in this temple. From the all corners of the earth, Trekkers loves to visit this place for the awesome feeling and thrilling adventure.

 

Solang Valley

Solang Valley gets its name after the nearby village Solang. This valley is 14 kms from Manali town on the way to Rotang Pass. In this valley, paragliding parachuting and skating are commonly offered. 

The valley is most famous for its beauty its vast slopes of green fields and its lush lawns. In the snow times, skiing is the most popular sport here and after the snow melts during the summer months May, zorbing is  used to play.

 Zorbing is a game which is consists of a Giant ball with 2 persons inside the ball which is rolled down around a 200 meter hill. The climate in Solang valley is best in Summers and very cold in Winter season. 

The coldest temperature here is −10 °C and hottest day temperature is 25 °C.

 


 

Manikaran Gurudwara

The Manikaran Gurudwara is located in the Parvati Valley on the river Parvati in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of 1760 metre and is 4 km far from Kasol and 45 kilometre from Kullu. 

Hot Spring Centre here in the Gurudwara attracts the Pilgrims all over the country and the world to visit here. 

This place is a pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Sikhs and was built by Raja Jagat Singh in 15th Century. 

In this temple, there is a popular legend that Bhagwan Shiv and Mata Parvati visits this place and lived here for around 1100 years and once Mata Parvati lost her Mani (Jewel) in the water and the Jewel is reached to the Shesh Nag, the Serpent and they got disappear in the Patal Lok.

After Shiva performed the cosmic dance, the Tandava, Shesh Nag then shot the Jewel up through the water.

 


 


Rohtang Pass in Manali


Rohtang Pass in Manali is a high mountain pass of an elevation of around 3980 metres from the sea level on the Pir Panjal Range of Himalaya. 

This place is around 51 km away from Manali. This pass connects Kullu valley with the Lahual and Spiti valleys of Himachal. This pass opens from May to November; one has to be taken full precaution to visit this pass because of its un predictable snow storms blizzards. 

Government is going to tie a Ropeway between Kothi village lie between Manali and Rohtang pass. 

In this context, the National Green Tribunal asked the State Government to complete all the formalities for this because in the winter, snow blocks the road and also Ropeway also reduces the carbon emission from the vehicles.
